Last month the U.S House of Representatives voted to permanently undo protections for the watershed of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in northern Minnesota. Now the last stand to keep the country’s most popular wilderness area protected is in the Senate.
Tell your senators to stop this attack.
More than 150,000 people visit the breathtaking Boundary Waters every year — for good reason. With a vast network of pristine lakes and rivers, bountiful boreal forests, rare wildlife like wolves and Canada lynx, and the sheer solitude of its unspoiled landscapes, these unique public lands provide unparalleled biodiversity and beauty.
In 2023 the Biden administration enacted a 20-year ban to protect 225,000 acres of the Superior National Forest, including the watershed of the Boundary Waters, from risky copper mining. Protecting the forest also safeguards other precious lands downstream, including Voyageurs National Park.
Now all of this is at grave risk, and we have limited time to act. Don’t let the Senate strip these critical safeguards.
