Dear John,
Labour’s oil and gas ban increased energy prices, cut jobs and made New Zealand more reliant on low-quality overseas coal.
That is why National ended Labour’s oil and gas ban.
Today, Energy Minister Simon Watts and I announced that we will build an LNG import facility in Taranaki to secure NZ’s energy supply and bring down your power bill.
This will save Kiwis around $265 million each year – that’s about $50 off your power bill.
We are also fast tracking new renewable energy projects and boosting competition in the retail electricity market – more moves to bring power prices down.
It's about fixing the basics and building the future.
PS: Labour has voted against every move to bring down your power bill. We need your help to warn Kiwis about their plan to increase energy costs.
