While we're going about our lives, 15,000 migrant children were being jailed by Donald Trump as of last December.

Two girls in California, Kaia and Lily, heard that number and decided to take action to raise awareness about each and every one of those children.

Kaia and Lily's idea? Painstakingly craft 15,000 paper butterflies, each one representing an individual migrant child.

To Kaia, Lily, and their friends, butterflies mean migration and freedom to move. They see how thousands of migrant children are being cruelly detained, and they want to make sure each and every one of us also sees it.

It's their very own Butterfly Effect: with the simple act of creation, these girls hope to make a difference that will shake our country to its core.

Let's help these brave girls along: join me on Facebook, share their story, and let's grow a movement that won't rest until Donald Trump's child prisons are closed and every person coming to our nation is treated with dignity and respect.

So many lives hang in the balance. We can't sit on the sidelines and hope for the best. It's time to step up, and to let each and every person know that this is happening in our country and that it has to stop.

Jeff
