My name is Laurie Buckhout, and I’m running for Congress because I refuse to sit quietly while Democrats in Washington weaken this country
I’m a retired U.S. Army Colonel.
I’ve led soldiers in combat.
I’ve defended this country against real enemies.
When you’ve served at that level, you understand something fundamental:
strength comes from clear leadership, respect for the chain of command, and a Commander in Chief who projects resolve.
That’s what we have again.
Under Donald Trump, America is once more strong, respected, and feared by our enemies. Our military is focused on readiness and deterrence, not politics. Law enforcement is being backed, not second-guessed.

But Democrats in Congress are doing everything they can to undermine that strength.
They attack law and order.
They excuse riots and violent crime.
They weaken border enforcement, allowing traffickers and drugs to flood our communities.
They politicize the military and erode respect for lawful authority.
That’s not opposition.
That’s sabotage.
The Democrat currently holding this seat, Don Davis, wants voters to believe he’s a “moderate.”
But when it matters most, he votes with Democrat leadership — backing policies that weaken enforcement, protect criminals, and stand in the way of restoring real order and accountability.
That’s not leadership.
That’s surrender.

I’m not a career politician. I’m a leader shaped by service, and I believe some principles are non-negotiable:

Criminals must face consequences

A strong Commander in Chief must be backed, not undermined
This seat is competitive because people here feel the difference between strength and weakness every day — in their safety, their communities, and their future.
Democrats know it too. That’s why they’re preparing to spend millions to protect this seat.
I don’t answer to Washington insiders or radical activists.
I answer to the people of North Carolina and to the responsibility that comes with leadership.
