Honoring World Cancer Day
This Wednesday, we observed World Cancer Day. This day is especially close to my family as we remember our beloved Patty and continue to focus on the fight against glioblastoma. We remain committed to supporting efforts to end this devastating disease that has affected families like mine. To those who have lost a loved one or who are courageously fighting this battle today, my heart and prayers are with you.
Below are some of the efforts that reflect that commitment.
H.R.842 - Nancy Gardner Sewell Medicare Multi-Cancer Early Detection Screening Coverage Act: This bill allows Medicare coverage for FDA approved multi-cancer screening tests (MCED), which can help to identify multiple cancer types at earlier and more treatable stages.
H.R.1262 - Mikaela Naylon Give Kids a Chance Act: This legislation accelerates the development of treatments for childhood cancer and rare diseases by giving the FDA authority to require pediatric trials for combination cancer therapies.
H.Res.394 - Expressing support for the designation of July 16, 2025, as "Glioblastoma Awareness Day."
Strengthening Education in Texas
This week, I had the privilege of meeting with leaders who are shaping the future of education in the Great State of Texas.
I met with Dr. Coby Kirkpatrick, Superintendent of Cleburne ISD and a fellow Horned Frog, to discuss K–12 education priorities, program funding, and my bill, the Safer Schools Act that boosters school security.

I also met with Rice University President, Reginald DesRoches, to discuss the university’s exciting growth plans and how we can support higher education institutions that are training tomorrow’s leaders in Texas.
Reducing Red Tape and Expanding Opportunity
Throughout the 119th Congress, my colleagues on the Financial Services Committee and I have remained focused on strengthening our banking system and making everyday life more affordable for Americans.
During Wednesday’s hearing with Secretary of the Treasury, Scott Bessent, we discussed how carefully tailored regulatory reform can remove costly layers of red tape, enabling financial institutions to better serve their customers and support local communities. Just over a year into his second term, President Trump continues building on his commitment to a financial system that works for small businesses, consumers, and future homeowners.

Historic Progress for Global Peace and American Producers
Thanks to President Trump’s strong leadership and the utilization of tariffs, India has stated that it will cease purchasing Russian oil, eliminating a key funding stream for Russia’s war on Ukraine and reducing trade barriers to the United States.
This monumental deal opens new markets and delivers huge wins for American energy, agriculture, and technology producers.

In Case You Missed It
I introduced the 28th Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration, Kelly Loeffler, at the House GOP’s Meet The Administrator event.
I joined the Bayh-Dole Coalition’s Capitol Hill event, a great moment for the leading voices of innovation and Main Street to come together.
I supported the March for Life; as your Congressman, I will always stand for the most vulnerable. Every child is a precious gift from God.
In God we trust,
Roger Williams
