We don’t have corporate backers or billionaire funding to fall back on. Everything we do depends on our community stepping up.

Jack, we will be very up-front with you: 2025 was an extremely been a difficult financial year for Daily Kos—and 2026 is not off to a good start.
We remain completely paywall-free, and we remain accountable only to our readers and community—not corporations, not billionaires. But those commitments have real costs, and we’ve already had to make some painful budget cuts in 2025 to keep our work going.
We are determined not to let those cuts affect the quality of our journalism or the strength of our activism tools. But to avoid deeper cuts, we need to increase our revenue now.
