Donald Trump put up a wildly racist post online, depicting the Obamas as apes. He finally deleted it -- after 12 hours [ [link removed] ] -- but he refuses to apologize, saying he did nothing wrong.
This really isn’t hard. When you screw up, you apologize. You don’t double down on being a horrible human being, you apologize, make amends, and try to be better.
Now, the odds that he’ll actually do that are slim, since he’s been the Johnny Appleseed of racism since he got into politics (and before), sprinkling hate and racist rhetoric throughout the land.
But let’s not give him a free pass, just because we expect him to be a terrible human being. We cannot normalize this kind of behavior. Demand Trump apologize, make him own this, and remind everyone that there are a whole lot of us out there who know this is wrong, and are not going to tolerate it [ [link removed] ] -- especially from a president.
And If he won’t? Then let him look like a colossal jerk as he is forced to explain over and over again why Is such a horrible human being that he cant even take this simple step. And this is poison for Republican candidates in moderate, swing districts, so let them deal with that as Trump drags them down to defeat.
Add your name: “President Trump, for once, surprise us, do the right thing, and apologize for posting that racist video.” [ [link removed] ]
