It’s gameday, John.
Folks across the world are going to be tuning in tonight to watch the Super Bowl, some for the commercials, some for the halftime show, but for me it’s all about the football.
Patriots/Seahawks is a fun matchup and will remind so many people of the Malcolm Butler interception — but I think this year is going to be a completely different game.
This Patriots defense is built by a bunch of gritty underdogs, in fact 10 of their 11 starters this year weren’t starters last year. Talk about a resilient team bringing out the best of everyone involved.
Meanwhile, Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold was counted out who knows how many times, but now he’s a starting QB in the Super Bowl. A story of resilience, and never giving up, he’s shown that if you put your head down and get to work, you can accomplish almost anything.
Not to talk politics on Super Bowl Sunday, but I do see some parallels between these two teams and this campaign. I can tell you that pundits across the nation are counting us out of the race. They don’t think there’s a way for a Democrat to be elected in Mississippi. But just like the teams in today’s big game, we have the chance to prove the doubters wrong.
My campaign team would be livid if I sent this email and didn’t add a fundraising ask, so will you pitch in $7 before the big game tonight and help fuel our gritty campaign?

Enjoy the game, and let’s cheer on the 15 players with Mississippi ties.
