JOHN,

Florida lawmakers are once again weaponizing Christian nationalism under the guise of “religious freedom.”

An amendment advancing in the Legislature, misleadingly titled the “Protection of Religious Expression in Public Schools,” would rewrite Florida’s Constitution and put it on the ballot in the next general election.

This proposal would open the door for:

  • School-endorsed prayer over loudspeakers at athletic events
  • Religious ideology embedded in classroom assignments
  • Unequal treatment that favors dominant religions over minority faiths
  • Costly lawsuits that drain public school resources

Interfaith leaders testified against this bill, warning that it weakens the separation of church and state and puts students at risk of discrimination.

When public schools become stages for ideology, students lose — especially those from minority faiths, immigrant families, and communities already under attack by far-right extremist groups.

Please chip in today to help Educated We Stand defend inclusive, constitutional public schools, support pro-education leaders, and push back against Christian nationalist overreach disguised as “freedom.”
