The people that know me best will tell you that I am a straight shooter. I
think people deserve honesty and directness. Too many politicians try to
act like they know better than everyone and treat the rest of us like
we’re dumb.

So I know you probably opened this email expecting to get asked for money.
And you’re right. I know you also didn’t wake up expecting to give to our
campaign today, but I am hoping you will give me a chance to make the case
for why your support matters before our final FEC fundraising deadline on
Wednesday.

This is the last time before the primary that we’re required to publicly
share all of our fundraising numbers. And we’ve set an ambitious goal
because what we raise before this deadline will directly impact our final
budget decisions before early voting starts.

Democrats haven’t won statewide in Texas in decades. Flipping this seat
will require throwing out the old playbook and challenging the
conventional wisdom.

That’s how I — with a movement of my friends and neighbors — flipped a
Trump district in 2018. We called out the billionaire and corporate
mega-donors who’ve rigged Texas and built a tent big enough for everybody
who shared our values.



I want you to know that when we ask it’s because it’s important. It’s
because I know that $3 and $10 at a time will
make a difference — especially when we don’t take a dime from corporate
PACs.
