SIGN NOW: Trump is using federal forces to intimidate, punish, and silence people who dare to speak out. Congress must defend servicemembers’ duty to reject unlawful orders >>
John, when several members of Congress stated a simple truth – that servicemembers are not required to follow unlawful orders – Trump responded with rage.
He threatened lawmakers with death and launched a Pentagon investigation targeting Senator Mark Kelly. [1]
This is what it looks like when leaders use the machinery of government to threaten critics and crush dissent. Our government is supposed to protect us – not be turned into a weapon against people who speak out.
So here’s the real question: will leaders in Congress stay silent while government power is used to threaten or retaliate against political opponents? Or will they make it clear that unlawful orders and political misuse of authority have no place in our democracy?
Sign the Petition: Congress must reject Trump’s intimidation tactics. Defend the right to refuse unlawful orders and push back against political retaliation >>
Government officials – civilian or military – should never be pressured to act outside the law.
These threats, investigations, and retaliation aimed at silencing dissent send a chilling message to everyone who depends on government to protect, not punish, them.
We don’t have to accept this. And Congress doesn’t have to either.
We can disagree fiercely without turning federal power into a tool of punishment. Our democracy only works when those in power refuse unlawful orders and protect people’s right to speak, protest, and oppose those in power without fear.
Add your name to tell Congress that Americans expect accountability, restraint, and respect for the law – not intimidation or political retaliation >>
