Dear John,

A few weeks ago, we reached out when the Safe Line Speeds in COVID-19 Act, a bill that would prohibit slaughterhouses from operating at dangerously high speeds during the COVID-19 pandemic, was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives. Now, the bill has also been introduced in the Senate.

Take action now

This is big—the introduction of the bill in both chambers doubles its chances of success. Now is the time to take action.

As a constituent, your voice matters most to your elected officials. Reach out to your senators now and urge them to co-sponsor the Safe Line Speeds During COVID-19 Act to protect
workers, animals, and consumers.

High-speed slaughter lines make it difficult for workers to ensure that animals are completely unconscious before slaughter. As a result, millions of animals face unimaginable suffering during the slaughter process. Also, slower lines help workers social distance, reducing the spread of COVID-19 in nearby communities. By speaking up, you’re helping create a more compassionate food system.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
AJ Albrecht
Director of Government Affairs
