Sign Up RESULTS: NEISD Receives School Safety Investment I secured $4.2 million through my seat on the House Appropriations Committee to improve school safety and security initiatives for North East Independent School District in Bexar County. I joined NEISD leadership in San Antonio on Friday to present this important funding. In addition to funding for NEISD, I secured over $42 million in community investments across South and West Texas. Thank you to the incredible community partners who worked with us along the way to ensure this investment made it home. U.S. Border Patrol Special Operations Groups, including BORTAC and BORSTAR, play a critical role in protecting Americans from harm. Currently, a technicality in U.S. law creates legal obstacles for them to support our state and local law enforcement when tier one support is needed the most. The Homeland Threat Response Act removes these barriers and ensures tactical CBP units can be utilized fully to protect the public. With the Super Bowl, FIFA World Cup, and the 2028 Olympics on the horizon, I'm working to ensure that the best of the best can respond to threats without hesitation. Punchbowl News Summit on Youth Mental Health I spoke at the Punchbowl News Summit on Youth Mental Health in Washington this week. I've worked hard in Congress to bring home millions in funding for mental health centers and support resources across TX-23. As Co-Chair of the Bipartisan Congressional Mental Health Caucus, I always appreciate these open lines of communication on how we can support our youth. Backing the Blue On Tuesday, I met with Texas sheriffs and representatives from the Texas Fraternal Order of Police. In Congress, I've secured funding and introduced legislation in support of our hard-working law enforcement, and I always appreciate these meetings in Washington. TRWA serves 50 member systems across South & West Texas and met with me to discuss their work on rural water systems in the area. Throughout my time in Congress, I've secured multiple community investments for water infrastructure projects in TX-23. This year, President Trump signed two of my water-related community investments for Uvalde and Bexar Counties into law. The Bexar County project will expand water infrastructure in Somerset, and the Uvalde County project will enhance drought resiliency and fire protection efforts across the area. Meeting with Texas Educators This week, I met with Texas educators and stakeholders who are working hard for our next generation. I first met with David Sublasky and representatives from El Paso’s ESC-Region 19. Thank you for all you do to help students from Fabens ISD, Soccoro ISD, and El Paso County thrive. PICTURED: Congressman Gonzales meeting with ESC-Region 19 representatives. I also met with Trinity University President Dr. Vanessa Beasley and representatives from the university. San Antonio is lucky to have higher education institutions like Trinity in our backyard. PICTURED: Congressman Gonzales meeting with Trinity University representatives in Washington.
