Dear John,
The team here at Inequality Media just tested a new series of public persuasion videos aimed at changing people’s minds about Trump’s economic policies, and you won’t believe the results.
Typically, if our videos shift public opinion in our direction by 3–4 points, that’s huge. But these new videos are moving people by double digits. That’s off the charts.
We’re already pushing these videos out far and wide to the tens of millions of people who see our videos on social media. But with our democracy hanging by a thread, we need to go bigger.
So we’ve decided to try something completely new for us: billboards.
There are tens of millions of Americans who aren’t on Instagram or TikTok, so we’re racing to adapt the most successful messaging from our videos onto billboards so we can reach them too.
There’s only one issue: Billboards aren’t cheap, and the most high-visibility locations are the most expensive. But I truly believe the expense is worth it, so I’m asking all our supporters to chip in whatever you can right now to get our billboard campaign off the ground.
Will you make a monthly donation to help Inequality Media educate the public and put up billboards around the country to hold Trump accountable for his failed economic policies?
Facing Trump’s escalating authoritarian onslaught, you might be starting to feel hopeless and helpless. But I’m here to tell you that our public pressure is working.
Ask yourself: Why did the Department of Justice finally agree to commence a civil rights investigation into the murder of Alex Pretti?
Why was Greg (“How-the-hell-do-I-open-this-tear-gas canister?”) Bovino removed from his commander-at-large position in Minneapolis?
And why did ICE announce this week that 700 agents would be pulled out of Minneapolis?
The answer is public pressure.
We have a long way to go. Authoritarianism won’t be defeated in a day. But if we keep up the pressure, I believe that we will win. This is why I’m so excited to see our latest scientific public opinion test results showing that our message is working.
We know that people who see our videos and posts on social media are more likely to support our position on issues like health care, inflation, and tax cuts. The challenge now is to reach the tens of millions of Americans who aren’t seeing our content online — and I can think of no better way to reach the people we’re missing online than with billboards.
Right now, we’re testing new variations of our most effective messages redesigned for billboards. Once we’ve identified the most persuasive billboards, we’ll put them up in as many high-traffic areas as possible for as long as it takes.
So will you make a monthly donation to help Inequality Media educate the public and put up billboards around the country to hold Trump accountable for his failed economic policies?
Thank you,
Robert Reich
