First and foremost, I wanted to say thank you. Just for opening this email and taking a few seconds to read it through.

I know your inbox is probably filled to the brim with emails from other Democrats like me — so knowing that you care enough about this movement to take time out of your day to read this update… it means a lot.

But in the interest of full transparency: Yes, this is a fundraising email. But there is a catch: If you’ve chipped in recently, I don’t want you to chip in. On the other hand, if you’ve never given to Team Sharice before — or even if it’s been a little while — I hope you’ll take this message as a sign to chip in. Because Election Day will be here before we know it, and we need to take this time to get prepared.

Look, asking for your hard-earned money is — by far — my least favorite part of holding elected office. I’d much rather send you a long list of bullet points of what I’m fighting for in Washington, and not spend a second thinking about deadlines or potential budget crunches.

But that’s just not the world we live in right now. The truth is, National Republicans and their super PAC allies are raising huge sums of money to take Democrats like me down and keep their grip on power.

And even though I wish elections were decided by which candidate has the best ideas and nothing more — that’s not the way it works. Money plays a big, big factor in competitive districts like KS-03.

So yes. This is a fundraising email — because even if both of us don’t like it, winning takes resources. Taking back the House takes resources. Building a better Kansas, a better country, and a better future takes resources.

So I’m humbly asking: If you believe in what I’m fighting for in Washington — lower costs, good health care, LGBTQ+ equality, and so much more — will you rush a donation to make sure the far-right can’t replace me? National Republicans are circling like vultures over KS-03, so we need all hands on deck right now.
