Hank Johnson LOGO

John, it's Hank Johnson.

100 years ago on February 7th, Dr. Carter G. Woodson established Negro History Week to recognize the contributions that Black people have made to American life and culture.

100 years later, Black History Month is under attack by our president who refuses to acknowledge America's complicated history to forge a better, more equal path forward.

Almost as an afterthought, President Donald Trump issued a proclamation last week that argues against the very existence of Black history that is distinct from that of other Americans.

He made no mention of the fight to secure freedom from slavery, no mention of the unequal application of the law during my own childhood, nor the struggles Black Americans still face today—especially from racially discriminatory policies enforced by his own hand.

Black people built this country, John. Today and every day, we commit to telling the full story of the American journey.

Our country is backsliding quickly, and we **MUST** elect leaders who are willing to learn from the past to protect our children' s futures.

Our district will play a key role in determining that balance of power during the 2026 midterms. My team and I are already preparing to reach voters this year—will you make a donation to help us mobilize Georgia Democrats this year?

In the fight,
Hank
