The Week in Review
Happy Friday!
I hope you had a wonderful week. I am grateful to serve you all in the 119th Congress. Read below to see what I’ve been working on this week.
My Balanced Budget Constitutional Amendment Advances Out of House Judiciary Committee
My constitutional amendment requiring the federal government to operate under a balanced budget advanced out of the House Judiciary Committee. Washington has proven it cannot be trusted to police its own spending. This amendment puts firm, constitutional guardrails on a system that has been allowed to run on debt, excuses, and empty promises for decades. Congress should be required to balance its budget like every American and every state.
I urge House leadership to bring this amendment to the floor promptly so the full House can act to restore fiscal discipline and put our country back on a sustainable course before the damage becomes irreversible.
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) supports my effort and stated, “Runaway government spending caused massive inflation during the Biden-Harris Administration and now risks triggering a debt spiral. Rep. Biggs’s balanced budget amendment limits reckless spending and fuzzy math by requiring Congress to spend within its means.”
The amendment has been referred to House Leadership for a potential vote on the Floor, where it will require a two-thirds majority vote to advance to the Senate.
The amendment may be read here.

Joining My Colleagues to Discuss the Critical Work of the Sharia-Free America Caucus
I attended and spoke at the Sharia-Free America Caucus’s inaugural press conference.
Sharia Law has no place in America but is already gaining ground in cities like Minneapolis and Dearborn. Its radical ideology is antithetical to our Judeo-Christian values and to the freedoms our great Republic was founded on.
I look forward to the work my colleagues and I will do to stop radical Islam in its tracks. Click below to hear my remarks from the press conference:
Remembering Why Americans Demand Mass Deportations
For four years, Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Alejandro Mayorkas opened our borders for the worst of the worst to invade. Though their regime is over, the devastating consequences of radical open-border policies remain.
President Trump, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, and Border Czar Tom Homan—along with all of our courageous ICE and CBP agents—are working around the clock to deport criminal illegal aliens across the country. But local, state, and federal elected Democrats are spewing hatred and violent rhetoric toward DHS, ICE, and CBP while refusing to hand over illegal aliens with deportation orders.
Americans demand mass deportations to prevent the pointless assaults and murders of American citizens at the hands of illegal aliens. Families across the nation should never be forced to bear these preventable crimes. Congress stands in support of federal law enforcement officers who are carrying out lawful deportations of illegal aliens. I will continue to push for policies that put Americans over illegal aliens in memory of Grant Ronnebeck and Brandon Mendoza from my congressional district, Rachel Morin, Jocelyn Nungaray, Laken Riley, and the countless other Americans who were brutally murdered by illegal aliens.
House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Markup
The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee held a markup and advanced the following bills out of committee:
- H.R. 7274- Federal Acquisition Security Council (FASC) Improvement Act of 2026;
- H.R. 2985- Modernizing Government Technology (MGT) Reform Act;
- H.R. 4123- Federal Improvement in Technology (FIT) Procurement Act;
- H.R. 7256- Federal Workforce Early Separation Incentives Act;
- H.R. 7283- Ensuring Federal Purchasing Efficiency Act;
- H.R. 1118- Value Over Cost Act of 2025;

- H.R. 5000- Cybersecurity Hiring Modernization Act;
- H.R. 7265- Vote By Mail Tracking Act; and
- A variety of post office renaming measures.
House Judiciary Committee Activity
The House Judiciary Committee held a hearing titled, “Europe’s Threat to American Speech and Innovation: Part II.” During the hearing, my colleagues and I examined Europe’s decade-long campaign to censor the global internet and how European regulations directly infringe on what Americans can say and see online in the United States.
Before the hearing, the committee released an interim staff report revealing that the European Commission successfully pressured major social media platforms to change their global content moderation rules. It was also revealed that the European Commission targets U.S. political content for censorship and disproportionately targets conservative content and interferes in elections across Europe. I highlighted the fact that the Left is driving political censorship, not the Right. Click the image below to hear some of my remarks from the hearing:
The Judiciary Committee also held a markup and advanced two bills out of committee. In addition to H.J.Res. 139, my proposed constitutional amendment requiring the federal government to operate under a balanced budget, the committee also favorably reported H.R. 1028, the Protection of Women in Olympic and Amateur Sports Act.
Biological men have no business in women’s sports. This is not about politics; it’s about fairness, safety, and protecting the hard work of female athletes. H.R. 1028 ensures that female athletic and Olympic competitions are reserved for biological female athletes. It protects fair competition, preserves the achievements of women and girls, and keeps women’s sports meaningful and competitive, and I was glad to see it pass out of committee.
