Catching Up with Quigley: Week In Review

Dear John,

This week, I fought to stop DHS's abuses and to protect our elections from Trump's scare tactics.

1. Voted Against All Funding for DHS

In a YouTube short video, Congressman Quigley shares he voted against all DHS funding.

Last week, I called for ICE to be dismantled. This week, I voted against all funding for DHS.

Trump has turned ICE into his own private paramilitary force. They've picked up citizens, they've targeted people solely based on their skin color, and they've killed people.

I'm going to keep voting against funding DHS until ICE and CBP are out of our communities.

2. Joined Senator Warren in Demanding Answers on How DHS Actions Impact Children

I also joined Senator Elizabeth Warren to demand oversight of how the lawless DHS's actions may harm children.

ICE and Border Patrol have brought violence to places where children are present, including schools, daycare centers, and even a child's birthday party. In January, federal agents went so far as to use a young child as "bait" in front of his family in Minnesota. ICE and CBP's complete disregard for child welfare undermines the government’s core child-protection obligations, and the American people deserve answers.

I was proud to lead this effort in the House of Representatives alongside Senator Warren and 55 other lawmakers.

3. Warned Against Trump’s Election Intimidation

I also condemned Trump's repeated threats to our federal elections.

Trump's claims of widespread election fraud are baseless and have been soundly rejected by independent investigations. Despite this fact, Trump seized ballots and voting machines in Georgia this week, and he threatened to deploy ICE at the polls around election time.

Non-citizens already cannot vote in federal elections — this is pure voter intimidation, and it cannot stand.
