Join us for a behind-the-scenes look at “A Home, A Church, A Hospital: The Development of East San Antonio,” a one-of-a-kind graphic novel project created by Sydney Andrea Landers (Squidney Comics) in collaboration with the City of San Antonio Preservation Office, for release in 2026. Landers will explore the unique creative process behind the graphic novel, share her perspectives on interactive and visual educational approaches in the digital age, and talk about how she hopes to make history captivating and engaging through the medium of comics and graphic novels.

*Event Information*

*Presenter:* *Sydney Andrea Landers *is a full-time architectural historian and illustrator with a passion for education, accessibility, public history, and graphic novels. Her journey with graphic novels began with "*“AGBANY: The Birth of the Historic Preservation Movement,”*" which was published in 2022. Her work roots her in the personal mission she developed when entering the field of historic preservation: to make the history of our built environment accessible and captivating for everyone. She hopes to use comics and graphic novels as a mean of accomplishing this mission.

A proud native Texan, Sydney began her preservation career at UT Austin where she earned a bachelor's degree in art history (with a minor in architectural history and certificate in museum studies), followed by a master's degree in historic preservation. Landers i also an alumna of the Friends of the Texas Historical Commission's *Preservation Scholars Program*, class of 2019.
