NFL Super Bowl LX

The Smartest Play on Game Day is Moderation

On February 8, 2026, the Seattle Seahawks will face the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX. While the atmosphere is fun and festive, the Illinois Liquor Control Commission (ILCC) reminds fans that the smartest play on game day is moderation.

“Alcohol consumption and impaired driving often increase during major sporting events like the Super Bowl, particularly around pre-game gatherings, halftime, and post-game celebrations,” reports MADD.

In Illinois, it is illegal to drive with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.08 or higher. Drinking and driving is entirely preventable. Getting behind the wheel while impaired is a choice that can lead to serious or fatal consequences. If you plan to drink, choose a safe way home such as a rideshare, cab, or a designated driver. Protect yourself and others this Super Bowl by following these simple safety tips:
“Whether your team is winning, losing, or not playing at all, we want everyone to drink responsibly this Super Bowl weekend. Be safe, play it smart, and no matter who wins, Bear Down!” said ILCC Executive Director, Lisa Gardner.

About the Illinois Liquor Control Commission
The Illinois Liquor Control Commission’s mission is to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the people of Illinois through careful control and regulation of the manufacture, distribution, and sale of alcoholic liquors and through the development of strategies to reduce youth access to alcohol products and the provision of training and education on responsible beverage service.
