I voted to pass a funding package that was signed immediately by President Trump to reopen the federal government and deliver more than $3.7 million directly back to Texas’ 14th District, bringing the district’s total to nearly $40 million through the FY26 appropriations process.
Here’s exactly where those dollars are going: - $2,000,000 for Lamar State College Port Arthur to support the Advanced Terminal Workforce Development Center. This investment helps train workers to step straight into high-demand, good-paying jobs that support our ports, terminals, and energy supply chain. It strengthens safety, efficiency, and reliability across the infrastructure that powers our regional economy.
- $1,000,000 for the City of West Columbia to begin Phase One of its street reconstruction project. These are the local roads families drive every day and the same roads relied on by small businesses, school buses, and first responders. This funding addresses aging infrastructure and improves safety and reliability.
- $730,000 for the City of Angleton to rehabilitate the Lexington Square building, including HVAC replacement, structural and exterior repairs, and shaded parking to better serve residents, local organizations, and visitors.
Keeping the government open is one of Congress’ most basic responsibilities. Shutdowns create uncertainty, stall local projects, and hurt working families. This bill reopens the government and delivers full-year funding certainty for Fiscal Year 2026, allowing communities to plan and move forward without disruption.
With President Trump’s signature, more than 95% of the federal government is now funded through full-year appropriations, including 11 of the 12 FY26 funding bills completed.
This legislation also locks in decisive national priorities that matter to families and workers back home:
- Pay raises for the men and women who wear America’s uniform, because peace through strength starts with taking care of those who defend our nation.
- Support for lifesaving biomedical research and stronger medical supply chains to keep America prepared and resilient.
- Investments in classrooms and workforce training that prepare the next generation to succeed.
- Improved aviation safety, including investments in air traffic controllers and new technologies that keep our skies safe.
- Modernized transportation infrastructure, making travel safer and more reliable.
- Restored American strength and deterrence, ending years of weakness on the world stage and reasserting peace through strength.
- Stronger safeguards to stop terrorists, criminals, and hostile actors from exploiting the U.S. financial system.
It took a herculean effort, but this is exactly what YOUR Texas 14th Congressional office is here to do: fight to make your tax dollars worthwhile, bring them to Texas, and put them to work in the communities where you live, work, and raise your families.

Free, fair, and secure elections are the foundation of our Republic. If Americans lose confidence that our elections are being conducted lawfully, the entire system suffers. One simple principle should unite everyone, regardless of party: only U.S. citizens should be allowed to vote in U.S. elections.
Right now, federal law does not consistently require proof of citizenship to register to vote in federal elections. That gap has created confusion, inconsistency across states, and growing concern among voters who want to know their voice is protected and their vote is not being diluted. The SAVE America Act addresses that problem directly.
That’s why I am a proud co-sponsor and strong supporter of this legislation.
The SAVE America Act strengthens election integrity by:
- Requiring proof of U.S. citizenship when registering to vote in federal elections.
- Requiring photo identification to vote in federal elections.
- Improving the accuracy of voter rolls by strengthening verification standards.
- Providing clear guidance to states so these protections are implemented consistently and responsibly.
- Ensuring every legal vote carries the same weight, no matter where it is cast.
This approach reflects what the American people already support. According to even CNN polling, support for photo ID to vote is broad and bipartisan:
- 85% of White voters
- 82% of Latino voters
- 76% of Black voters
A Pew Research poll shows the same trend, with overwhelming support for voter ID requirements across party lines, including 95% of Republicans and 71% of Democrats.
This legislation reinforces the integrity of the system by making sure voter registration and voting processes are lawful, accurate, and secure. Strong election integrity laws protect everyone. They safeguard the rights of lawful voters, strengthen confidence in election outcomes, and preserve trust in our democratic institutions.
The SAVE America Act is about protecting the rule of law, restoring confidence in our elections, and ensuring America’s future is decided by American citizens alone. That’s good for our democracy, good for our Constitution, and good for the country.

Texas’ 14th District helps power America. Our pipelines move the fuel that keeps homes heated, businesses running, and our military mission-ready. As cyber threats grow more frequent and more sophisticated, protecting that infrastructure is not optional. It is a matter of national and energy security.
That’s why I’m proud to lead the Pipeline Cybersecurity Preparedness Act, a bipartisan bill I introduced with Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (D-MI). This week, the legislation advanced out of the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Energy Subcommittee and is one step closer to the House floor.
Right now, responsibility for pipeline cybersecurity is spread across multiple federal agencies. That creates gaps, confusion, and delays when threats emerge. The Department of Energy already serves as the federal government’s lead for the energy sector and has the expertise, visibility, and technical capabilities needed to coordinate security across the entire system, from fuels to power, upstream to downstream.
The Pipeline Cybersecurity Preparedness Act puts the right experts in the lead and strengthens coordination by:
- Designating the Department of Energy as the lead agency for pipeline cybersecurity coordination.
- Improving federal, state, and industry coordination and information sharing on cyber and physical threats.
- Supporting preparedness, response, and recovery efforts following cybersecurity incidents.
- Developing voluntary cybersecurity tools, technologies, and pilot programs in partnership with industry.
- Strengthening workforce development and cybersecurity training for pipeline and LNG facilities.
- Preserving existing agency authorities and creating no new regulatory requirements.
This bill does not create new regulations. It does not expand federal mandates. It focuses on coordination, preparedness, and capability so states and industry have the tools they need to prevent attacks and respond quickly when disruptions occur. We’ve already seen what happens when cyberattacks target energy infrastructure.
The 2021 Colonial Pipeline attack showed how quickly a single incident can disrupt fuel supplies and ripple across the economy. This legislation builds on lessons learned and ensures the Department of Energy can lead coordinated efforts to keep our energy systems secure and resilient.
The Pipeline Cybersecurity Preparedness Act secures American energy dominance, strengthening national security, and making sure the pipelines that run through Southeast Texas continue to safely and reliably deliver the fuel America depends on. I’ll keep pushing this bill forward and working to get it across the finish line.

Punxsutawney Phil may say six more weeks of winter, but here in Texas we follow Buc-ee the Beaver and he’s declaring more brisket! With cold weather or not, our district team stayed busy across Southeast Texas serving folks right where they are.
We joined local leaders for the Brazoria County Administrative Building ribbon cutting, celebrating a new home for essential county services including the Brazoria County Veterans Affairs Office, Tax Office, and County Clerk’s Office. This new facility brings key services under one roof and makes it easier for residents and veterans to get the help they need.
At the BayTran Drainage Committee meeting, leaders shared how protecting our region from flooding and storm impacts carries national implications. Keeping Southeast Texas resilient protects communities, industry, and critical infrastructure far beyond our district.
We met with leaders at the Spindletop Behavioral Health Center to tour the facility and learn more about the important mental health services they provide to individuals and families across the region.
Finally, our team was proud to support the Southeast Texas Veteran Stand Down in Port Arthur, an event benefiting homeless veterans and their families by connecting them with critical services, resources, and support. Taking care of those who served our country is always a priority!
