Kennedy Institute Newsletter  |  Winter 2026
FROM THE INTERIM CEO, JOE HALE
It's a real honor to succeed Adam Hinds and build upon his good work as CEO of the Edward M. Kennedy Institute. Our focus on bridge building, civil discourse, and civic education has never felt more urgent and meaningful.

We hope you will join us on February 23 for the Stone Social Impact Forum, featuring Tracy Palandjian, CEO and Co-Founder of Social Finance, in conversation with David Rubenstein—investor, philanthropist, author, and Co-Founder and Chairman of The Carlyle Group. Complimentary registration is open to the public, and we would be delighted to welcome you.

We are in the midst of exciting plans for EMKI as we prepare to share a reimagined Institute with you. Beginning June 2, 2026, the Institute will be open to the public six days a week and feature several new immersive and interactive experiences and displays. We hope you'll plan a visit and see what's new.

Finally, we invite you to consider becoming a member of EMKI. Membership directly supports our award-winning civic education programs, which give thousands of students each year a hands-on opportunity to be a “senator for a day” and learn how our government should work.

UPCOMING EVENTS
Tracy Palandjian on Investing in Opportunity: A Conversation With David Rubenstein (February 23)
Join the Stone Social Impact Forum for a timely conversation with Tracy Palandjian, CEO and Co-Founder of Social Finance, on the role of finance in expanding economic opportunity and building pathways to upward mobility.

Over the past fifteen years, Palandjian has been at the forefront of impact investing and cross-sector collaboration, helping to design and scale new models to deliver better outcomes in workforce development, health, housing, and education.

In a fireside conversation moderated by David M. Rubenstein—investor, philanthropist, author and Co-Founder and Co-Chairman of The Carlyle Group—the discussion will explore how we can revitalize the American Dream through new paradigms for education and wealth building.

The Stone Social Impact Forum is an annual series that features bold civic change agents who demonstrate various pathways to tackle inequality, advance social change, and inspire all people to be civically active. The Forum is made possible through the generous support of the James M. and Cathleen D. Stone Foundation.
