Noembody asked for this

With the Olympics starting this week, we’ll all be eagerly watching for our American athletes break some world records. But what’s clear is that here at home, Trump and his team have already secured GOAT status for collecting impeachments like gold medals.

In response to the recent fatal shootings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, a growing number of Democratic lawmakers in Congress have called for the removal and impeachment of Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem. By a +16-point margin, voters support impeaching Noem, including 80% of Democrats and 54% of Independents. We’re sure if we polled the dogs of America, that number would be even higher.

We also find that voters support removing Stephen Miller from his position as the White House Deputy Chief of Staff and key architect of Trump’s deportation agenda. That includes 77% of Democrats and 53% of Independents.

Listen, we’re going to need mass firings and a deep, deep cleaning to rid the stench at DHS, but we’d take getting rid of Noem and/or Miller in the short term.

Here are some other highlights from DFP this week:

the green(land) new deal

What is it with rich assholes wanting to own islands? Does a switch flip on in their brain when they reach their billionth dollar? After all the horrific information in the Epstein files this week, I think we can all come together and agree on banning all island acquisitions by creepy old dudes.

But until then, we’ll probably all continue to be subjected to Trump’s insane ramblings about taking over Greenland. Lucky us.

In our new poll, we find that a strong majority of voters (62%) think the U.S. should not try to acquire Greenland, while 30% think it should. Majorities of Democrats (88%) and Independents (63%), as well as about 1 in 3 Republicans, agree the U.S. should not try to acquire the island.

A strong majority of voters also believe that Trump is more focused on acquiring Greenland (66%) than lowering the cost of living (29%), their top priority. Majorities also disagree that the U.S. needs to acquire Greenland for natural resources (58%) or for national security (53%).

When regular people feel like going on an impulsive shopping spree, they tend to buy more normal things, like a random gadget from the TikTok shop that definitely won’t catch on fire. A whole sovereign country should probably be off limits — especially while 83% of voters agree that the people of Greenland should decide their political future. Fortunately, it seems like Trump has taken military action off the table, but that man says a lot of things.

ICE OUT

Whether it’s your Hinge match opening the conversation with just a “hey,” your airline requiring you to pay for a single carry-on bag, or your landlord just painting over the concerning crack in your ceiling, we’ve all learned to expect the bare minimum these days.

Except as it turns out, Republicans in Congress can’t even agree to that. Democrats are currently negotiating funding for the Department of Homeland Security in exchange for reforms to ICE operations. Our polling finds that many of the potential reforms being proposed by Democrats are popular with likely voters — including ending arrests without judicial warrants, preventing arrests at sensitive locations, requiring investigations into potentially unlawful conduct, preventing the detainment of U.S. citizens, and banning enforcement agents from wearing masks.

To all the people putting their bodies on the line to fight for their neighbors in Minneapolis and cities all across the country, we’re with you. And we’ll continue to use our research to shine a light on just how out of touch this administration’s cruel tactics and extreme agenda have become.
