Friend,

Agriculture is more than the backbone of our economy—it is a way of life that shapes our communities, our values, and our future. And from the very beginning, women have been at the center of that story.

Nearly one-third of farmers in my district are women—leading businesses, balancing the books, adopting new technology, and strengthening rural communities, often while balancing family life and helping shape the next generation of agriculture. Their contributions are not new, but for far too long they have gone unrecognized.

Women in agriculture are innovators and problem-solvers. They bring new ideas to the field, play a critical role in conservation and sustainability, and help ensure our food and fuel systems remain strong. Whether they are working the land, advancing ag science, teaching the next generation, or building careers in agribusiness, women are essential to agriculture’s success.

Recognizing women’s role in agriculture is not just about honoring the past—it’s about investing in the future. We should encourage young women to pursue careers in agriculture, support working moms in rural communities, and ensure policies reflect the realities they face.

It’s long past time we fully recognize and celebrate the women who help feed, fuel, and sustain Iowa, America, and the world every single day.

Sincerely,

Securing Over $18.7 Million for IA-02, Totaling to Over $35 Million for Iowans

The bipartisan government funding package passed by Congress this week delivers major investments back to our district, and it’s now the law of the land with President Trump’s signature.

As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, I am committed to cutting wasteful spending while ensuring every possible dollar is brought home to Iowa to strengthen our communities. I was proud to secure $18.7 million in federal funding for projects that expand workforce housing, improve critical infrastructure, and strengthen career and technical education opportunities—right here in Iowa’s Second District.

This brings our total FY2026 federal funding secured for Iowans in counties across my district to $35 million! Here’s a breakdown of the latest funding I secured to better our communities:

  • CERRO GORDO COUNTY: $3,000,000 for the North Iowa Corridor Workforce Housing Initiative.

  • LINN COUNTY: $3,716,000 for the Swine Career and Technical Education Barn.

  • LINN COUNTY: $10,000,000 for the Eastern Iowa Airport Aircraft Deicing Facility.

  • LINN COUNTY: $2,000,000 for the City of Ely Urban Renewal Initiative.

More information about these projects and the additional counties impacted is available on our website

Welcoming Iowans to Washington

Part of keeping Iowa affordable is making sure local businesses have access to the financing they need to grow. This week, I met with the Iowa Bankers Association and it was great to hear what is top of mind for our local banks right now—and where we can work together to support growth across Iowa!

I also loved welcoming Iowa Farm Bureau to Washington! We had a productive conversation about ways to support Iowa farmers through year-round E15, blocking California's Prop 12, and managing input costs. Proud to stand up for the farmers who feed and fuel the world!

To wrap up the week, I appreciated the chance to meet with the Iowa Association of Independent Colleges and Universities to talk about the students they serve across our state and how we can help more young people build their future right here in Iowa!
