John,

Happy Black History Month.

This month isn’t just about looking back. It’s about honoring our history by fighting in the present. Our ancestors built this country with courage, resistance, and a relentless demand for justice. They didn’t wait for permission, and neither should we.

Right now, we’re seeing history repeat itself. Communities are under attack. Rights are being stripped away. People are being silenced. And every day, the work of protecting Black voices and Black futures falls on us.

So this month, we can’t just celebrate. We must stand, act, and lift up Black lives, remembering that the same power that drove generations of Black people to make change still lives within us today.

Our history isn’t just behind us, it’s alive in the work we do, the streets we march, and the policies we fight for. And it’s our responsibility to make sure the next generation inherits a world that sees and values them fully.

This Black History Month, let’s honor our past by fighting for our future, together.

In solidarity,
Cori Bush
