Right now, there are 15 bills in nine U.S. states that specifically target medication abortion. [[link removed]]
Since Texas's HB 7 law went into effect in December 2025, other states are following suit to increase attacks on medication abortion. HB 7, the Texas law, allows private citizens to sue anyone who allegedly manufactures, distributes, mails, or prescribes abortion pills into the state—the last remaining lifeline for many Texans who cannot travel out of state to access the abortion care they need.
