Fighting to Resume Funding for the Gateway Tunnel Project

Today, work on the Gateway Tunnel Project goes “shovels down” as funding runs out due to a funding freeze put in place by President Trump last October.

The Gateway Tunnel Project is critical to New Jersey, New York, and our country. Sen. Kim is working hard to restart this funding to protect jobs, keep our communities connected, and keep our economy moving forward.

Did you know?

  • The construction of the Gateway Tunnel Project will create 95,000 jobs.
  • The construction of the Gateway Tunnel Project will generate $19.5 billion in economic activity for our region.
  • In terms of long-term benefits, the Gateway Tunnel Project will create and sustain more than 46,000 jobs on average each year for several decades, and $445 billion in economic benefits by 2060.

Shining a Light on the Truth Behind Trump's National Guard Deployments

As a member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs, Senator Kim, along with Senator Peters, helped lead a report that showed how much Trump’s deployment of the National Guard in D.C. is costing taxpayers—and the number is shocking.

On the release of the report, Senator Kim shared:

“This report shows that President Trump is spending hundreds of millions from working families’ pockets to keep the National Guard in D.C. with no clear strategy, no evidence of effectiveness, and no end in sight. If this administration was truly prioritizing the safety of our communities, it'd allow the National Guard to instead focus on their core military responsibilities and work together with congress to get local law enforcement and leaders in D.C. the funding and resources that they need from the federal government.”

It’s time to end the occupation of our cities and call out the clear corruption we’re seeing at every level of this administration.

Fighting for the Sandwich Generation

A note from Senator Kim: My family was not prepared for my father’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis. No family is. We need a healthcare system that better supports us.
