John, the first time I ever ran for public office, it was right in the place where I was born and raised — Nash County, NC. Getting the chance to serve the people of my home community in North Carolina’s legislature meant so much. It meant even more that people put their trust in me.

The fact is, I’ve never wanted to leave North Carolina at all. This state is my home, and it’s where I planned to serve.

But our nation is at a tipping point, and this race matters so much to so many of us. I couldn’t just sit by.

So I’m asking for your help this evening because too much is on the line — and because our team is facing our biggest financial challenge yet, just five days from now. We’re required by the FEC to file a public financial report ahead of North Carolina’s primary. It’s our best chance to show our GOP opponent that the people are with us as we begin the general election campaign.
