Learn how we’re helping care show up on TV.

Hi John,

As a mom of two and caregiver for my son Leo, who was diagnosed with developmental delays at 6 months old and more recently with Autism – care is a central part of my daily life. That's why I’m so proud to work on our Culture Change team at Caring Across Generations and I want to share a little bit about the work I do with you.

Through my own care journey and my work, I see again and again how essential care is for every family – how deeply integrated it is into every facet of our lives, and how urgently we need policies and systems that make care accessible and equitable for all.

But for systems to change, the narrative must change. People need to see care – its realities, its challenges, and its power – as a core part of life. Part of how that shift happens is to see it reflected in the culture around us. That’s where my role comes in.

Every day, I work with Hollywood writers, producers, directors, and creative teams to bring more authentic, nuanced, and diverse care stories to the screen. My team and I focus on helping storytellers:

  • Find the caregiving moments that are organically part of characters’ lives
  • Show care on screen in ways that are authentic and realistic
  • Strike the right balance between entertainment and nuance
  • Build emotional connection to the realities of care experienced every day by the millions of people who give and receive care

It’s been a big year for this work. During this award season, we’re especially proud to cheer on two shows we advised this year – The Pitt and Dying for Sex – and to see more caregiving scenarios show up in even more stories across the TV landscape than ever.

We pulled together a roundup of some of the most meaningful moments for care on TV in 2025 – both from projects we worked on and from others leading the way. Take a look at our blog, and see how these stories are changing the narrative.

I’m so excited for the new stories we’ll help bring to screens in 2026 – starting with the upcoming film Take Me Home, which you can read more about here. You might even find a new show to add to your watch list!

Together, we can keep pushing care into the spotlight, and make it impossible to ignore.

Thank you for everything you do to keep fighting for change, raising your voice, and turning narrative shifts into real policy wins.

With care,

Lydia Storie, Director of Culture Change
