Dear john, I want to reiterate my gratitude to every person in our district and across metro Atlanta who has taken the time to voice their concerns about ICE activity in College Park and their strong opposition to the reckless behavior we have seen from federal agents across the country. Last week, I shared updated Know Your Rights guidance, as well as a link to more information from House Oversight Democrats regarding cases of misconduct incidents, all available here on my website. In Washington this week, I spoke outside ICE Headquarters and demanded the resignation or impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. You can view my remarks by clicking here or on the image below: | Like so many of you, I am also outraged by the news of last week's FBI raid of the Fulton County elections center. President Trump continues to spread misinformation and dangerous conspiracy theories about the 2020 election, and these actions undermine our electoral process, endanger election workers, and erode public trust in our democracy. With some of my colleagues from the Georgia delegation, I am demanding the Attorney General provide immediate briefings concerning last week's raid and its related investigation. To read our letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi, click here. In Congress, I am leading the reintroduction of the bipartisan Family Violence Prevention and Services Improvement Act of 2026 (FVPSA). This legislation will reauthorize and expand funding for programs focused on supporting survivors and preventing family and domestic violence, which are the only federal funding sources under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services dedicated to providing domestic violence prevention services. This legislation previously passed the House with bipartisan support in 2021, and I look forward to working with my colleagues to pass it this year. This week began the start of Black History Month. All month long, I will be uplifting the stories of remarkable Black Americans from right here in Georgia's Sixth Congressional District. It was a special privilege to begin these celebrations by sharing the story of Dr. Hillard Pouncy, Jr., one of the original Tuskegee Airmen and a resident of Austell. Dr. Pouncy passed away this past December at the age of 103, and he left behind a remarkable legacy of public service and excellence in all that he did as a member of our armed forces, as a research scientist, and as a beloved member of his family. To hear more about Dr. Pouncy's life, click here or on the image below to listen to remarks I delivered on the House floor. | As we look ahead to spring, it is never too early to get started on your 2025 taxes!
