I wish I were writing with better news, but the situation has escalated yet again.
Just days after we warned about growing federal threats to the midterms, Steve Bannon is now openly calling for ICE agents at polling places. This is a chilling and deliberate escalation intended to intimidate voters and undermine free elections.
I’m an election judge. Undocumented residents cannot vote and do not try. ICE has no role at the polls—ever. This is not about election security. It’s about fear.
This comes on top of other dangerous developments:
-
The MEGA Act, which would centralize federal control over elections and ban Ranked Choice Voting
- US Attorney General Pam Bondi’s demand for Minnesota to turn over our voter rolls
- Federal raids on election offices in Georgia
-
Journalists and legal observers being arrested or threatened for documenting federal actions
Taken together, this is no longer theoretical. It is a coordinated effort to intimidate voters, sow distrust in our elections, interfere in the midterms, and roll back reforms that give voters a real voice.
This is exactly why FairVote Minnesota exists—and why we urgently need to raise $30,000 by the end of the month to keep up this work.. Every dollar you donate will be matched by a generous donor who understands the urgency of this moment.
