In November, several of my colleagues and I put out a video restating a simple message: the oath to the Constitution comes above all.

In response, the President of the United States called for my arrest and hanging, and sent the Justice Department after me and other members of Congress for stating the law.

Now, the DOJ has requested to interview me in Trump’s latest escalation of his growing intimidation campaigns against political rivals.

Let me be incredibly clear: I will not be intimidated by any harassment campaign. I do not intend to sit down for a voluntary interview with DOJ or FBI officials sent to interfere with the important work I’m doing for my constituents.

This should end. And I will fight hard against any further unlawful escalation.

I swore an oath to defend our Constitution, and I intend to keep it. So no matter what Trump says or does, no matter who he sends after me, I will not be intimidated, and I will never back down. I first took my oath to the Constitution when I entered the Naval Academy at 17, at the start of my military service. I took it again when I was elected to represent the good people of Western Pennsylvania in Congress.

That oath is lifelong. It doesn’t expire, and it doesn’t bend to any one man’s threats.
