Big news — real relief is coming for Wisconsin families. And you’re one of the first to hear it.

This week, Sara rolled out the first policy in her Lower Prices for All Wisconsinites agenda—focused on easing the squeeze on families by making health care more affordable, reliable, and fair.

Here’s the plan:

1️⃣ Launch BadgerChoice: A Wisconsin-governed public option that gives people an affordable alternative to expensive private plans. Farmers, small business owners, young adults, and early retirees will finally have real, reliable coverage they can buy into — and Wisconsin will use its bargaining power to drive down prescription drug, hospital, and mental health costs.

2️⃣ Pass a Wisconsin Health Care Bill of Rights: Lock in protections so they can’t be stripped away — like guaranteed coverage for pre-existing conditions, bans on lifetime and annual limits, an end to surprise medical billing, and stronger hospital financial assistance rules. She will make true mental health parity a reality so insurance treats behavioral health the same as physical health and give the state the power to hold insurers accountable. 

3️⃣ Protect reproductive freedom: Codify the protections of Roe v. Wade into Wisconsin law so access to abortion, miscarriage care, and fertility treatments is secure and not subject to political gamesmanship.

4️⃣ Guarantee 12 months of postpartum coverage: End the dangerous 60-day cutoff. New parents will get the care they need during the full, critical first year — addressing postpartum depression, heart complications, and other risks that appear later.

5️⃣ Create a Rural Health Stabilization Fund: Keep ERs, maternity wards, and behavioral health services open so rural families aren’t forced to drive hours for care. Expand telehealth and mobile crisis services, and ensure fair reimbursement so hospitals can stay open.

These policies put money back in families’ pockets, protect them from financial ruin, and keep lifesaving care close to home. No more being blindsided by a bill that ruins a family’s finances.
