Trump shares video depicting Barack and Michelle Obama as apes in late-night Truth Social posting spree

America's malignant narcissist-in-chief took to his stupid social media platform last night and trotted out yet another tired, incredibly racist trope — depicting former President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle as apes. Hilarious, no? What makes Donald's latest lowering of the subterranean bar truly noteworthy isn't just the shocking bigotry, but how the White House attempted to rationalize it. Secretary of Doublespeak and crucifix collector Karoline Leavitt responded, "This is from an internet meme video depicting President Trump as the King of the Jungle and Democrats as characters from the Lion King. Please stop the fake outrage and report on something today that actually matters to the American public."

Settle down, everybody. It isn't shockingly racist to depict America's first Black president and first lady as apes! They're just characters from "The Lion King!" Why are you all such snowflakes? It's not like the MAGA cult leader has routinely called Black Americans "thugs," claimed Africa is made up of "shithole countries," accused Haitian immigrants of eating cats and dogs, or declared Somali-Americans to be human "garbage." Shit, wait.

VIDEO OF THE DAY: Trump bombs on stage at National Prayer Breakfast

America's imbecile-in-chief took to the podium at the 74th National Prayer Breakfast and predictably veered off teleprompter, riffing on mythical voter fraud and openly questioning how anyone of faith could ever possibly vote Democrat. Democrats, of course, were in the room, what with the bipartisan nature of the annual gathering that dates back to the Eisenhower administration.

Nothing screams "duty to God" quite like demeaning the audience for not giving blind fealty to your political party, devolving into a conspiracy-laden tirade about voter ID, making fun of Speaker Mike Johnson for praying at lunch ("I said excuse me? We're at lunch!"), and bragging about how he had never read the Bible. This coming from the guy currently presiding over an army of cosplay bounty hunters terrorizing communities across America on a decidedly un-Christian-like immigrant purge fueled by white nationalism. But we digress...

Virginia voters can stop Trump’s election rigging — and level the playing field

Virginians For Fair Elections Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans are trying to rig the 2026 midterms by pressuring red states to redraw congressional maps behind closed doors — cutting voters out of the process and stacking the deck before a single ballot is cast. Virginia has a chance to do something different. A proposed, temporary constitutional amendment would give voters — not politicians — the final say. Under the amendment, proposed congressional maps would be made public, and Virginians would be able to review them and vote on them before any maps take effect. Now, Virginians for Fair Elections is launching a statewide effort to make sure voters know what’s at stake — and to ensure Virginia leads by protecting fair representation instead of following Trump’s rigged playbook. Will you chip in today to help level the playing field and defend our democracy?

Trump reportedly demanded his name on Penn Station and Dulles International Airport in exchange for unfreezing $16 billion in infrastructure funds
Nope! Definitely not the nakedly authoritarian machinations of a malignant narcissist singularly obsessed with making himself some sort of mythical, quasi-deity. He's definitely going to ask for his face on Mt. Rushmore, folks. You can take that to the bank. And to think, so much of this could've been avoided if Donald's dad would've just hugged him when he was a kid.

Take Action: Stop Trump from building a mass surveillance system with all our private data!

"When this is over, you will have nothing": GOP senator goes scorched earth in attack on rival Ken Paxton
The GOP Senate primary in the Lone Star State is going really, really well, with four-term incumbent John Cornyn and state Attorney General Ken Paxton going absolutely scorched earth on each other, leaving any pretense of civility squarely in the Texas dust. Responding to pointed digs from Paxton's camp that his "career is done and everyone knows it," Cornyn's campaign responded with a nuclear tweet, attacking the attorney general's personal moral character: "Ken, when this over, you will have nothing. Which turns out to be the same thing you offered to give Angela in divorce proceedings. This after you cheated on her multiple times."

Angela, of course, is Ken Paxton's soon-to-be ex-wife, who filed for divorce after 38 years of marriage on "biblical grounds," which is code-speak for "my husband is a lying, cheating piece of trash." This is a winnable seat for Democrats, no matter which Republican emerges from this mudslinging grudge match. Eyes on the prize, people!

Progressive Democrat on the brink of stunning New Jersey upset

In a stunning turn of events, AOC- and Bernie Sanders-endorsed progressive candidate Analilia Mejia is on the verge of toppling the establishment pick in the Democratic primary to replace New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill, who gave up her House seat when she won the governorship last fall. Mejia is leading former Rep. Tom Malinowski in a too-close-to-call race that has huge implications for the future of Democratic politics.

AIPAC ran a multi-million-dollar campaign against Malinowski, who they had previously supported before the former congressman came out in favor of conditioning aid to Israel. This appears to have backfired, as furious voters in what was once a wealthy GOP stronghold went to the left instead of the right.

While the race is currently still too close to call — Mejia leads by 486 votes — she nevertheless has shocked the New Jersey Democratic Party political machine and made it clear the this November, the old rules simply don't apply anymore. This is also a warning to those who happily accept AIPAC's blood money — simply supporting Israel isn't enough; it has to be unconditional, or they'll turn on you, too.

Negotiations to reform ICE sputter as shutdown looms for DHS
You will not be surprised to learn that Republicans in Congress are neither serious about nor remotely interested in enacting meaningful ICE reforms, despite weeks of empty rhetoric suggesting otherwise. Republican Senate Majority Leader John Thune called Democrats' demands "totally unrealistic," in part because they dared to propose more than three changes. Democrats' demands include requiring federal immigration agents to conduct operations unmasked; show identification; obtain judicial warrants for various operations, which ICE does not require to forcibly enter homes; and steer clear of sensitive locations like schools and churches.

Ask yourself why ANY of those very reasonable requests are nonstarters or how anyone in the Gadsden-flag-waving, freedom-loving, big-government-fearing, leave-us-the-fuck-alone camp from even 10 years ago could possibly object to such common-sense reforms. Alas, here we are, on the verge of another partial government shutdown, and all to ensure Big Brother can continue treading on anyone it chooses with impunity.

Maryland's Senate president is all that stands in the way of more blue seats

With the Republican Party advancing their racist gerrymanders in seven different states, it’s vital that the Democratic Party fights back and stops the GOP from rigging the 2026 midterms. Governor Wes Moore and the state house are in favor of new maps, but state Senate President Bill Ferguson has announced his opposition to the plan. We must convince him to change his mind! There is far too much at stake to leave anything to chance. If we can retake Congress, we can turn Trump to a lame duck president halfway through his term and force Republicans to play defense until we can retake the presidency and start cleaning up this mess. Add your name to pass new maps ASAP before it's too late!

Trump throws Pam Bondi under the bus on Georgia election office raid
The White House is letting Attorney General Pam Bondi take the heat for Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard’s wildly unusual presence at the Fulton County, Georgia, election office during an FBI raid. Last week, Gabbard was photographed overseeing FBI agents as they packed up and walked out with ballots from the 2020 presidential election, despite the fact that she is prohibited from taking part in domestic law enforcement operations. As public scrutiny boiled over, Gabbard told Democratic lawmakers that Trump himself had asked her to be there — but he is apparently not sticking by her side.

Instead, Trump blamed Gabbard’s attendance on Bondi, telling attendees at yesterday's National Prayer Breakfast that Gabbard "took a lot of heat ... because she went in at Pam’s insistence." There are two eternal truths in Trumpland: the buck will never stop at Donald's desk, and ANYONE can and will be thrown under the bus the moment they become politically or personally expedient.

Lindsey Graham begs Fox News viewers for money ahead of midterms: "We're getting wiped out"
A decidedly hot-and-bothered Lindsey Graham took to the Fox News airwaves last night and begged viewers to "pray" and donate money to his campaign war chest ahead of this year's midterms. Graham, whose Senate seat is not in serious jeopardy, asked Sean Hannity's audience to donate to his campaign anyway and promised to give half of the money he collects to other Republican candidates in more tightly contested elections. Few members of Congress wear their desperation for relevance so plainly for all to see, and Graham is certainly no stranger to begging in public. You could fill a swamp with the crocodile tears the four-term senator from South Carolina has shed over the years, issuing one apocalyptic warning after another about being "wiped out" by well-funded Democrats. Same old Lindsey, same old song.

Steve Bannon says ICE will surround polling places on Election Day
When they tell us out loud they're going to use every lever at their disposal to influence and rig the upcoming elections in favor of Trump, we would be wise to take them at their word.
