John,
They may crow about protecting ‘free speech’ but their actions say otherwise. Just last month, the Texas Tech chapter of conservative Turning Point USA, along with “extremely pro-life" advocates” pressured Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center to cancel a talk by a retired doctor who advocates for the right to receive a third-trimester abortion. [1]
We will always advocate for everyone to receive the medical care they want and need whenever they want and need it. Join us.
The cancellation of Shelley Sella’s talk, “the first woman to openly practice third-trimester abortion care in the U.S.” according to her website [2], was denounced by free speech advocates as perpetuating a dangerous pattern of censorship on university campuses.
Lifesaving medical care, like abortion access throughout pregnancy, should not be controversial. It should be standard. Give to advocate for health care for all.
Not only does the cancellation demonize abortion care, it ignores and refuses to acknowledge the very real reasons why a person might seek an abortion later in pregnancy. From financial barriers, to unnecessary regulations, to closing clinics, the pro-life movement wants to celebrate these things as victories while sticking their heads in the sand to their inevitable consequences.
Abortion is safe and necessary for reproductive justice to exist. Stand with us to help keep abortion care available always.
Sincerely,
Erin Matson

P.S. Whether it’s online platforms or in-person events, we’ve been fighting the suppression and censorship of accurate abortion information for some time. Speaking up about abortion care is essential to creating a world of safe, supported abortion for all. Give now.
