Dear Friend,

Children are being kidnapped by masked federal agents, causing school attendance rates across the country to drop drastically. Many of these kidnappings are happening right outside of schools, pushing children into the school-to-prison-to-deportation pipeline.

Federal immigration agents, including ICE and Border Patrol, have no place in or around our schools.

ICE activity around schools has skyrocketed after the Trump administration rescinded a longstanding restriction against immigration agents carrying out enforcement in sensitive locations. Now, students, parents, and caregivers are being targeted on their way to school, which has led to immigrant families pulling their children out of school and away from school systems, an essential pillar of community support. No child should have to choose between going to school and staying safe.

We cannot stand idly by as racist, state-sanctioned violence is enacted against vulnerable students. We must act now to protect the rights of immigrant students, safeguard their future, and ensure that no student feels unsafe in their own classroom.
