Secret “Climate Working Group” violated federal law
Last year the Trump administration handpicked five researchers to work in secret on a slanted report to justify its efforts to stop regulating climate pollution. EDF and the Union of Concerned Scientists sued.
Last week a judge ruled that the administration violated the law by convening the group without open meetings, public records or balanced representation of viewpoints.

Courts reverse the vindictive cancellation of clean energy funding
In November, a coalition including EDF sued the Trump administration for cancelling $7.5 billion in grants that fund clean energy projects. Notably, cancellations only occurred in states that did not vote for President Trump in 2024. This January, a judge ruled that this violated the Constitution’s equal protection requirements.

Congestion pricing benefits bigger than expected
Congestion pricing was designed to bring health, environmental and economic benefits to New York City — the United States’ biggest, most traffic-clogged city. One year in, the program has successfully reduced air pollution, commute times and traffic accidents and has already raised hundreds of millions to modernize and repair New York City’s transit system.
