Dear John,
The U.S. Senate is expected to vote on H.J. Res. 140 early next week. This is a make-or-break moment for America’s most iconic Wilderness.
As a reminder, H.J. Res. 140 passed the U.S. House of Representatives last month. The Resolution would roll back protections and reopen the door to toxic copper mining in the watershed of the Boundary Waters. 100% of copper mines pollute, wreaking havoc and permanently damaging ecosystems and communities.
The next few days are critical for the Boundary Waters.
This resolution is dangerous. It would not only eliminate current protections, it would prevent future administrations from using the same safeguards on the Boundary Waters. Worse, it sets a precedent for rolling back protections on other public lands, leaving them vulnerable to extractive industries and the highest bidders. Every American who values public lands should be concerned about this.
The most effective thing you can do right now is CALL your U.S. Senators. [[link removed]]
Here is why your call right now truly matters: Senate offices are actively tracking constituent calls on this vote. Staff log every call, share updates internally, and report volume directly to Senators. When constituents call, it influences how Senators vote.
Here is how you can take action right now:
1️⃣ Call your U.S. Senators and tell them to vote NO. We'll connect you directly and provide a simple script. It takes less than 2 minutes.

2️⃣ Send an email to your U.S. Senators. Amplify your voice with a written message opposing this dangerous resolution.

3️⃣ Spread the word. Forward this alert to friends, family, and fellow paddlers across the country. The power of our grassroots movement is only as loud as our volume.
Now is the time to go ALL in for the Boundary Waters. We can win 100 times, but we can only lose the Boundary Waters once.
For the Wilderness,
