The members of Metro DC Democratic Socialists of America have voted overwhelmingly to endorse our comrade Janeese Lewis George to become the next Mayor of the District of Columbia. Janeese has been a champion of the working class for six years on the DC Council, and DSA has been the backbone of her campaign effort in every race. She is a proud socialist who calls DSA her political home, and we are excited to join her once again in our shared struggle to enact an agenda that makes this city one that every family can afford to live in.
From the ballot box, to the jobsite, to the apartment block, Metro DC DSA is building the strongest political machine in the region to take on the billionaire class and their lackeys. Because we are member led and member funded, our organization is not beholden to special interests or big money. Our candidates can be authentic and bold because they know a dedicated and organized working class movement has their back.
Councilmember Lewis George is one of eight candidates Metro DC DSA has endorsed for the 2026 election cycle. Our chapter members have knocked on more than 230,000 doors and made more than 61,000 phone calls to voters since 2017.
