Hi John,
A few weeks ago, we told you the truth about the government’s sewage plan, the so-called Vision for Water.
They’re spinning it as “the biggest overhaul in a generation” - while quietly locking in the same broken, profit-first system that’s been dumping sewage, hiking bills and making people sick for decades.
We saw through it. We got angry. I’m sure you felt the same. 🤬
Now the government wants to move on and pretend we’re all fine with this.
But we weren’t properly asked. Voices were sidelined. And real alternatives to the failed privatised model were ruled out from the start.
This Tuesday, MPs have a chance to push back
On Tuesday 10th February at 9:30am, MPs will debate the government’s Vision for Water in Parliament. This is a crucial moment. It’s one of the first real chances for MPs to:
✊ Challenge weak proposals 📢 Call out sewage pollution for what it really is - a system failure 🌱 Demand changes that put people and the environment before profit
But here’s the problem: if MPs don’t feel pressure from the public, many simply won’t turn up.
And if they don’t turn up, the government gets a free pass to push these plans through with barely a murmur of opposition.
We cannot let that happen.
We need MPs in that room - and you can make it happen
The call for better must be deafening. 📣 That means MPs hearing directly from the people they represent before the debate begins. We’ve made it simple for you to ask your MP to take a stand. Our quick and easy email template has everything drafted for you, asking them to attend the debate and demand more from the government’s plans.
It just takes a minute, but it can make a huge difference. ✊
After the debate, we’ll let you know which MPs showed up, who spoke up for our seas, rivers and lakes, and who stayed silent.
Because when it comes to sewage pollution, silence is complicity. |
