With a New Name and a New Look
|
It’s been a long, cold winter, but after celebrating our November victories and taking a brief holiday break, we’re ready to get back to the fight with a new name and a new look. But our mission is the same -- delivering state legislatures victories that help ensure:
- Protecting immigrants and working families
- Election integrity
- Voting rights
- Reproductive freedom
- Economic justice
- Gun violence prevention
And we’re counting on YOU to fight with us and achieve in 2026 the kind of success we realized in 2025!
Thank you for your tireless work in making our past victories possible! Let's do it again this year!

The Midterms Start Now!
Dante Pittman -- Our First Candidate for 2026
|
2026 is a critical year for democracy and a promising year for Democrats. In addition to regaining control of the U.S. House and Senate, it’s imperative for us to retain or regain control of every state legislature possible. We know you recognize the need to protect fundamental rights, advance progressive policies, and ensure that our values are represented at every level of government. With your continued support, we can build on the momentum from 2025 and make a transformative impact in the year ahead.
To that end, we are thrilled to support our first candidate of 2026: Dante Pittman, incumbent for the NC House of Representatives in District 24! Dante broke the Republican supermajority in 2024 and reelecting him is key to preserving Governor Stein’s veto power.
MEET DANTE PITTMAN
Representative Dante Pittman is serving his first term in the North Carolina House representing District 24 after Sister District (now States Win) worked to send him to Raleigh. A lifelong Wilson resident, UNC–Chapel Hill graduate, and Captain in the North Carolina National Guard, Dante has quickly emerged as a strong advocate for public education, healthcare access, and rural economic development. He has fought Republican voucher schemes that would drain millions from local schools, while championing policies to support working families and small businesses. Learn more about Dante on his candidate page.
WHY NORTH CAROLINA IS IMPORTANT
North Carolina will be a defining battleground in the 2026 midterms, with control of the legislature and an open U.S. Senate seat on the line. In 2024, Democrats ended the Republican supermajority in the House, giving Democratic Governor Josh Stein the ability to veto Republican attacks on reproductive rights, public schools, and voting access. Flipping vulnerable districts and defending key incumbents is the only way to keep Democrats strong enough to stop the GOP’s extreme agenda.
WHY THIS RACE IS IMPORTANT
Dante’s victory in 2024 ended the Republican’s toxic supermajority in the North Carolina House. Reelecting him is key to sustaining Governor Stein’s vetoes and blocking GOP attacks on schools, healthcare, and reproductive freedom. Holding this must-win district gives Democrats the numbers to protect progress and defend North Carolina’s future.

Some Inspiration for 2026
Invictus by William Ernest Henley
|
Looking ahead to the fight we're facing this year, we are inspired by William Ernest Henley's Invictus, which has served as inspiration to such heroes as Nelson Mandela and James Stockdale. We share it with you here.
Invictus
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate.
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate.
I am the captain of my soul.
