Dear John,
Our College Counselors have supported high school seniors in submitting 2,171 college applications this year. As deadlines approach, our College Access team is rallying to support students as they race toward the finish line, submitting financial aid forms and college applications with powerful momentum. Last year, 92% of Fulfillment Fund students applied to college while securing over $5.3 million in debt-free support, opening access to federal grants and national scholarships that keep college within reach.
From group sessions to one-on-one counseling to scholarship guidance, every counselor helps students feel supported, confident, and ready for their next steps.

This week, during National College Counselor Week, we celebrate our College Access team—often the first champions of our students’ college journeys. Every day, they guide students through some of the most important decisions of their lives, turning questions about college choice, majors, and affordability into clarity and possibility.
Thank you to our incredible counselors Connie Lucio, Gloria Zelaya, Jenny Amaya, and Jinna Lee, led by John Kuhlmann, Director of our College Access program—steadfast advocates ensuring college is within reach for every student they serve.

Our students were on TV! Twenty-five Fulfillment Fund high school students toured the KTLA News station for an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at careers in journalism and broadcast media. From control rooms to studio floors, they saw firsthand what it takes to bring the news to life.
The visit, inspired by the student-led Young Women’s Empowerment Group at UCLA Community School, expanded students’ ideas about their futures and the many pathways in media and storytelling. Students left energized, inspired, and excited about the possibilities for their own stories on screen and beyond.

Alumni Networking Night! <[link removed]>
Last month, we welcomed 13 alumni and six industry professionals to our DTLA office for an intimate Alumni Networking Night. We are grateful to our volunteers Alex Berardelli, Rivian; Lauren Cardenas, Grant Thornton; Joshua Gutierrez, Netflix; Martin Rincon, CareerSpring; Ron Roberts, Griffith Company; and Gina Zelaya, Enterprise Mobility — who shared their time and expertise to support our Class of 2025 college graduates as they practiced networking, built confidence, and learned directly from professionals about career pathways and workplace culture.
