John --
A lot of people don’t know this, but we’re one of the very few campaigns in the country running a year-round field program.
We don’t believe in trying to reach voters at the last minute before an election, so we’re constantly communicating with undecided voters about their priorities and the work I’m doing in Washington.
When I first arrived in Washington DC, many long-time operatives told me this was a bad idea. They said it was too expensive to staff a field team year-round, and instead suggested I spend more of my budget on TV ads.
I disagree. Ads are great, but I think grassroots organizing beats a commercial on TV any day. Does it mean we need to keep more staff and volunteers on board? Sure. But we flipped this seat with people power in 2018 despite being vastly outspent on TV, and it’s how we’re going to keep it blue in 2020.
Right now, Team Levin organizers are getting ready for the final stretch of this campaign, but it’s been a tough fundraising month and we’re coming up short of our goal to keep our program fully funded. Can you chip in $3 to help us get back on track? >> [link removed]
Even though COVID-19 has altered how we’re running this campaign, we haven’t deviated from our mission of engaging more undecided and first time voters about our work and plans for this community. The challenges we face are big and we need everyone’s input. Gathering that information takes time.
We may have changed the way we reach voters, but we certainly haven’t scaled back the importance of our field program. It’s a crucial part of winning this race.

I’m grateful for anything you can do,
