The past few weeks have been busy for our campaign, so I just wanted to take a moment and say thank you. This is an unprecedented election year, so your continued support means the world to me and my team.

I'm running a grassroots campaign here in ME-02, meaning that I'm primarily relying on everyday folks like yourself to power my team. That makes things more challenging from a financial standpoint, but when it really comes down to it, that's just how it should be.

Our democracy wasn’t built for wealthy backers or special interest groups. It was built by and for hard-working Americans, who vote their conscience to elect leaders with a commitment to public service.

I know things seem broken in Washington right now, but at least here in ME-02, I’ve always done my best to live up to that mold.

Well John, here’s the situation. Our opponent this year is being backed by some deeply partisan dark money and out-of-state, special interest groups who know that they can essentially buy themselves a congressional district if they’re able to defeat me this year.

They know that they stand to benefit if petty partisanship replaces the kind of independence that I’ve done my best to bring to this district’s representation in Washington. But we can’t allow our democracy to be used as a tool for their benefit, John -- so we need to fight back.

The best way to do that right now is help my team meet its July fundraising goal by chipping in whatever you can afford today. I know it’s asking a lot, and I am so grateful for all your support as the race picks up over the next few months,
