Mitch McConnell had some nerve attending John Lewis's memorial after posing with the Confederate flag.
A photo captured it earlier in his political career as he accepted an award from a group that honors Confederate veterans.
Mitch McConnell's nerve goes further -- pretending to honor Lewis while blocking his life's work: A bill to restore voting rights that Democrats just renamed the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Act. McConnell called it "voter-suppression nonsense" earlier this month.
McConnell is likely pretending to honor John Lewis because of the recent show of strength from the Black community in Kentucky, where McConnell is up for re-election this year.
We made a video highlighting #ConfederateMitch McConnell's hypocrisy -- showing the photo of McConnell in front of the Confederate flag. Please share it on Facebook and Twitter and chip in to help us show this to Kentucky residents in ads.
The voting rights bill McConnell is blocking would crack down on voter suppression that has exploded in Republican-controlled states since 2013 when conservatives on the Supreme Court overturned parts of the 1968 Voting Rights Act.
Democratic Congressman James Clyburn told CNN after the Capitol Hill ceremony, "I think Trump and the Senate leadership, Mitch McConnell...if they so celebrate the heroism of this man, then let's go to work and pass that bill. Words may be powerful, but deeds are lasting."
Mitch McConnell can’t have it both ways. He can’t praise Congressman John Lewis in front of the bright TV lights for his lifetime fighting for civil rights and voting rights while he single-handedly blocks those very same rights.
And, share our video exposing McConnell's hypocrisy on Facebook and Twitter and help us run ads shaming him in Kentucky until he brings voting rights up for a vote in the Senate.
