** 👟 LGBTQ youth sports participation

Our Research team examined sports participation among LGBTQ youth ages 13–18, and found that participation was more common among LGBTQ youth who were less “out” about their LGBTQ identity. Regardless of outness, transgender and nonbinary youth reported significantly lower rates of sports participation than their cisgender LGBQ peers.

Released this month, our second annual National Survey on LGBTQ Youth Mental Health highlights the urgent need for LGBTQ-inclusive policies, programs, and practices. The largest-ever of its kind, the survey represents the experiences of over 40,000 LGBTQ youth and provides crucial data around mental health disparities, discrimination, housing instability, barriers to accessing mental health care, conversion therapy, and suicide.
