John, just months after his very public split with Donald Trump, Elon Musk is already back in GOP politics – spending big to push a bill that would deny millions of Americans our right to vote.

That’s right: Musk just went on X and urged his 233 million followers to pressure Republicans to pass an even more extreme version of the so-called “SAVE Act.” [1]

This disastrous bill would make ordinary Americans jump through hoops just to vote – blocking millions of women, seniors, students, and rural voters from casting a ballot. [2]

And Musk isn’t just using his followers. He’s spending at least $10 million dollars to support Republican candidates for Congress this year [3] – sending a not-so-subtle signal that if they want his money, they need to fall in line.

Make no mistake – he's seeing the same polls you and I are about how deeply unpopular Trump and Republicans in Congress are. They think they can’t win free and fair elections – so their plan is to make voting harder for the people who would vote them out of power.

Musk is pushing for an even more extreme version of the SAVE Act. [4] Here’s how it would put your vote at risk:

Prove your citizenship – again: Even if you’re a lifelong voter, if you move across town, change your last name when getting married, or switch parties, you’d have to provide your passport or birth certificate with your current legal name – in person at your local elections office – just to stay registered.

Get stuck in long lines: Election officials would face impossible workloads, causing confusion and delays.

Lose your right to vote by mail: Musk is demanding an end to nearly all mail voting – meaning you’d likely be forced to cast your ballot in person.

Lose your right to vote altogether – without warning: If outdated records can’t verify your status, you could be purged from the rolls without even knowing it.

If Congress allows Musk to waltz back in and dismantle our democracy, what kind of message does it send to the average voter?
