They are smuggled in silence. Dragged through back roads and across borders, concealed inside vehicles, suitcases, cargo holds, and shipping containers. Animals like pangolins are jammed into crates, sacks, and boxes—bound, stacked, and suffocating—rushed from place to place so their suffering goes unseen and their lives can be sold before authorities can intervene.
This is how the wildlife trade operates.
Pangolins are the most trafficked mammals in the world, and now they’re on the brink of extinction. Stopping cruelty takes sustained pressure on the systems that allow it to continue.
That’s exactly what World Animal Protection and our partners at Jakarta Animal Aid Network (JAAN) are doing. In Indonesia—a major hub for the wildlife trade—we are working with JAAN and local authorities to target the problem at its source: poachers. Together, we’re protecting pangolins and millions of other animals caught in the wildlife trade.
This is why we’re inviting dedicated supporters like you to join The Wild Side monthly giving community. When you become a monthly donor, you provide reliable, year-round support for animals when they need it most.
Start a monthly gift from just $5 by February 17, and a generous donor will add $100 to your first gift, helping your impact go even further in the fight against animal exploitation.
