This Valentine's Day, I figured I'd do something a little different.
Instead of roses and chocolates, I wrote Chuck Schumer a poem.
Bear with me.
A Valentine to Chuck
Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
Chuck, I'll be honest,
Washington's messier with you.
You love big spending,
Long speeches and schemes,
I love a budget
That doesn't run on hopes and dreams.
You send press releases,
I send common sense,
You call it "investment,"
I call it fifty cents.
You swoon over slogans,
Hashtags and flair,
I swoon when the numbers
Still add up fair and square.
So Happy Valentine's, Chuck,
From a Senator who cares,
I'll keep the flowers,
You keep the stairs you like to block upstairs.
With all due respect,
And a heart full of cheer,
I'll fight you again
The other 364 days of the year.
