Antonio Delgado and I decided to team up with a shared commitment to moral clarity and a promise to take immediate action to improve the lives of everyday New Yorkers.
We aren't interested in half-measures or symbolic reforms. Our vision for New York is bold, because the challenges our families face, from the climate crisis to the soaring cost of housing, demand nothing less.
The Delgado-Walton vision is simple: We put people over profits.
Together, we are fighting for a New York where:
* The wealthy pay their fair share: We will tax the rich and make corporations and the ultra-wealthy invest back into the state that helped them succeed.
* Healthcare is a right, not a privilege: We are committed to passing the New York Health Act to deliver universal, single-payer healthcare.
* Housing is guaranteed: We will deliver real housing justice and protect tenants by passing the REST Act.
* Families are supported: We will provide statewide universal childcare and protect our immigrant neighbors by passing New York for All.
* The planet is protected: We will enforce our state’s bold climate laws and invest heavily in renewable energy.
The political establishment and corporate interests will call these ideas "radical". We call them necessary. Economic insecurity is a policy choice, and it’s time we chose to prioritize working-class survival over donor interests.
We are building this movement from the ground up, fueled by grassroots energy rather than backroom deals.
